Highlights: The tour follows the route taken by the film crew and bird experts during the filming of “The Birders” documentary, along the Northern Colombia Birding Trail. The tour begins in the city of Barranquilla and ends in the city of Bogota. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain in the world and one of the most important endemism centers in the world, with 22 species of birds restricted to it. Join us on a search for many of these endemics including Santa Marta Screech-owl, Antpitta, Mountain-tanager, Tapaculo, Foliage-gleaner, Brush-finch, Parakeet, Sabrewing, Bush-tyrant, Seedeater, Warbler, and a plethora more!
- Follow the route taken during the filming of “The Birders” documentary.
- Bird the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, home to more than a quarter of the country’s endemics.
- Visit the dry forests of the mythical Guajira peninsula in Northern Colombia in search of Vermilion Cardinal, Scarlet Ibis, and Tocuyo Sparrow.
- Bird the remote Perija mountain range, which has only recently opened up to birders and considered to be the holy grail of birding in Colombia.

Day 3: Minca to El Dorado Lodge
Day 4 and 5: El Dorado Lodge
Day 6: El Dorado Lodge to Tayrona NP
Day 7: Tayrona NP to Riohacha
Day 8: Los Flamencos NP to Perija Lodge
Day 9 and 10: Perija Lodge
Day 11: Perija to Valledupar and flights to Bogota
Day 12: Depart Bogota
